Details of events happening at Newton Mearns Parish Church are usually listed in What’s On with supplementary posters . Events include:
Carols in The Avenue
Our church sits adjacent to The Avenue shopping centre. At Christmas we enjoy donning our obligatory antlers and Christmas jumpers to entertain the shoppers with a selection of carols, helping to support The Avenue’s chosen charity for the year.
Monthly Coffee Mornings
For several years we have run a Coffee Morning on the first Saturday of the month, September - December and February - June. These are well supported by our own members and the wider community, generating funds for a wide selection of charities, some closer to home and others for the wider church and national charities.
The November Coffee Morning is always run by The Guild for Guild specific national projects and the March one by our own Boys’ Brigade, the 79th Glasgow Company.
Hall let organisations are encouraged to consider running a Coffee Morning with proceeds being shared between their own funds and a church charity.
Music in The Mearns
Conceived in 2023 by our musical director Karolina Kubalkova, we have been hosting a variety of concerts from across the musical spectrum, 3pm in the Sanctuary usually on the second Sunday of every other month - always best to check on What’s On to confirm. Apart from welcoming very talented performers, these concerts have also been an opportunity to showcase emerging young talent.
Events elsewhere
We are always happy to publicise events happening in neighbouring churches or further afield both in our weekly What’s On which is emailed to all as well as being included in the Order of Service. We also share information in our monthly Crosstalk magazine, on our Facebook page and website.
